Jeff Burke is a professional bluegrass musician, educator, and independent promoter in Nashville, TN.  He plays Guitar, Mandolin and  Banjo and has performed and recorded with a number of bands over his 25 year career. 

As a bluegrass educator, Jeff has worked both independently and in connection with the Wernick Method to teach group jamming classes and  camps throughout the US and internationally.. He founded the popular bluegrass jamming class at the World famous Station Inn and worked with the Country Music Hall of Fame to provide hands-on acoustic instrument and jamming workshops for their youth and family programs. He has taught at Monroe Mandolin Camp, Midwest Banjo Camp, Wintergrass and more. In addition to his career as a performer and an educator, Jeff has also served on the management and talent buying teams of The Station Inn and Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in Nashville  TN. 

Currently, Jeff tours with The Johnny Campbell Band and others and has become known for his weekly gigs in Nashville where he is joined by a rotating cast of all star local bluegrass pickers including Kyle Tuttle, Bronwyn Keith Hynes, Matt Combs, David Long, and Frank Evans to name a few.

WHAT IF I WANT TO EXTEND MY TRIP IN IRELAND?

We are happy to arrange additional nights in Dublin (or elsewhere in the country) for you, for before or after the tour! Just ask us for further details.

 

ARE FLIGHTS INCLUDED?

No. Since many people these days prefer to select their chosen airline / flight routing, and also choose to add extra days in Ireland before or after the tour, this is a land-only package. We're happy to refer you to an American based agency who can assist you with the flights if you require.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY

(subject to change)

 

DAY1 (SAT 4th)-depart from your chosen location (if coming from North America or Australia/Asia)!

 

DAY2 (SUN 5th)-arrive in Ireland

  • Meet + greet bus + tour guide at Dublin airport.

  • We will head a short distance up the road to County Meath, where we will explore the Boyne Valley Region.

  • We’ll visit Trim Castle - the largest and best preserved, Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland. Few places in Ireland contain more medieval buildings than this heritage town. Trim gets its name from the Irish, ‘Baile Atha Troim’, which means ‘Town of the Ford of the Elder Trees’, indicating that this was an important fording point on the River Boyne.

  • Before re-boarding the bus, there’s time to shop at Trim’s local craft shop!

  • A short drive to nearby Navan, and check into hotel, where we relax and refresh before dinner. 

 

DAY3 (MON 6th)

  • After a sumptuous Irish breakfast, we visit Newgrange - a prehistoric monument located on a rise overlooking the River Boyne, It is an exceptionally grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic Period, around 3200 BC, making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids!!

  • Late afternoon mentoring sessions

  • Dinner 

  • Evening jamming after dinner 

 

DAY4 (TUE 7th)

  • We will travel westward, taking in the beautiful sights of the border counties of Cavan / Monaghan / Leitrim / Sligo

  • Tonight’s overnight accommodation <tbc> located in the beautiful county of Sligo on the route of the world-famous Wild Atlantic Way.

DAY5 (WED 8th)

  • Today we head to County Mayo, arriving in the town of Westport. 

  • Tonight we will stay in the centre of this picturesque town,  set between Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay’s islands to the west and the Nephin Mountains to the north. 

  • Check into hotel and relax before dinner. 

  • After dinner, we go to the famous Matt Molloy’s (of the Chieftains) pub for a traditional Irish session. One never knows who will turn up. Matt Molloy himself is often on site and joins in the nightly session!

 

DAY6 (THUR 9th)

  • ​Connemara / Galway​

DAY7 (FRI 10th)

  • After breakfast,  we will travel back east, and arrive at the beautiful seaside village of Malahide, in north County Dublin. Here we will stay for the final two nights in the Grand Hotel (overlooking Dublin Bay)

  • Tonight we'll dine in the hotel's popular restaurant.

DAY8 (SAT 11th)

  • After breakfast,you will have a day at your leisure to explore the village of Malahide, full of cafes and small shops. For those who are interested, we'll swing over to Malahide Castle for a tour of the historic building and grounds.

  • There is also a train for those who prefer to head into Dublin City Centre for shopping and sightseeing (Joe, our tour guide will happily advise and facilitate whatever specific spots you may want to visit.

  • Meals today + this evening on your own.

  • Arrive back to hotel this evening to pack and prepare for tomorrow's departure.

 

DAY9 (SUN 12th)​

  • Final morning to start the day with a full Irish breakfast , then check out of the hotel and we say goodbye until next time….!
